When I was teaching high school, I had to time my water consumption so that I didn't drink too much before I would be able to leave my classroom. We weren't allowed to leave the room if students were in the room, which made escaping during passing periods impossible.
Now, I use drinking water as a way to reinforce taking short breaks.
I have scheduled a 3 hour block of writing time today, which is about 6 Pomodoros, before I take a 30-45 minute break for lunch. I think both the hydration and the regular breaks help my thinking and focus.
How about y'all? What tricks do you have to make sure you take short breaks in longer writing sessions?
